The short answer

NovaGenix individualizes compounded tesamorelin dosing and injection frequency based on the patient’s evaluation and clinical needs. Follow your prescription and dispensing pharmacy’s instructions.

There is no single NovaGenix dose or injection schedule that applies to every patient. The Egrifta doses below are provided as brand-specific FDA-label comparisons. They are not dosing, preparation or storage instructions for NovaGenix’s compounded tesamorelin.

Egrifta dosage: FDA-labeled comparison

This section describes the FDA-approved Egrifta formulations only. NovaGenix uses pharmacy-supplied compounded tesamorelin; its prescription directions may differ. Do not transfer the Egrifta doses or volumes to a compounded vial.

*Arithmetic totals only—not a once-weekly injection schedule. These formulations are not substitutable. Use the instructions supplied with your prescribed product. Sources 1–3.

A few points patients often miss:

  • The formulations can't be swapped. The label says Egrifta WR and Egrifta SV "are not substitutable." Switching means a new prescription and a new dose.
  • Labeled use is narrow. The FDA approved tesamorelin to reduce excess abdominal fat in adults with HIV-associated lipodystrophy. The label states it is not indicated for weight-loss management. Any other use is off-label and is a physician's decision.
  • Long-term cardiovascular safety has not been established, according to the label. That is one reason ongoing physician oversight matters.

Searches like "tesamorelin dosage for men" or "tesamorelin dosage bodybuilding" usually turn up much higher numbers. An online dose should not be assumed to match your prescribed product or its FDA-approved instructions.

Where to inject tesamorelin

For NovaGenix’s compounded tesamorelin, follow your prescription label, dispensing pharmacy’s instructions and the technique demonstrated by your healthcare team. Confirm the injection site, preparation, storage and beyond-use date for your exact product before using it.

Egrifta-label comparison: Egrifta WR and SV are injected under the skin of the abdomen. Their labeling calls for rotating sites and avoiding the navel, scar tissue and bruises. Those branded-product directions should not automatically be applied to a compounded preparation.

Contact your prescriber about persistent injection-site reactions, swelling, joint pain, or numbness and tingling. Do not share needles or syringes.

Individualized dosing, blood tests and safety

Dose and frequency. NovaGenix individualizes the amount per injection and the injection frequency according to the patient’s evaluation and clinical needs. Do not copy a dose, cycle or schedule from another patient or an online chart.

Blood testing. Blood testing is determined by the treating physician and may include glucose or A1c before treatment, with glucose and IGF-1 monitoring during treatment. Follow-up timing is individualized.

Women and pregnancy. Treatment decisions require an individual assessment. Tesamorelin must not be used during pregnancy. Tell your prescriber if you are pregnant or planning pregnancy.

Contraindications. Active cancer, certain pituitary or hypothalamic conditions, and known allergy to tesamorelin or its ingredients may make treatment contraindicated. Disclose your medical history and all medications before treatment.

Missed doses, preparation and storage. Follow the directions for your exact prescription. If you miss a dose or are unsure about the instructions, contact your prescriber or dispensing pharmacy rather than changing or doubling a dose on your own.

Symptoms to report. Contact your prescriber about persistent injection-site reactions, swelling, joint pain, or numbness and tingling.

Serious allergic reaction: Stop treatment and seek emergency medical help for symptoms such as trouble breathing or swelling of the face or throat.

Egrifta-label context. The approved labeling calls for glucose evaluation before and during treatment and monitoring of IGF-1 during treatment. It also warns about fluid retention and states that long-term cardiovascular safety has not been established. See the full prescribing information below.

Why online dosing charts do not apply

Milligrams describe the amount of medication; milliliters describe liquid volume. A syringe marking cannot be interpreted safely without the exact concentration and the instructions for that prescription.

Egrifta WR’s labeled concentration is 8 mg/mL after product-specific preparation. That concentration must not be assumed for a compounded vial. Compounded preparations may have different concentrations, ingredients, handling instructions and beyond-use dates.

Products marketed “for research use only” should not be treated as prescription medication. If you have used a research peptide, tell your physician what you used and the amount. Do not rely on an online dosing calculator in place of instructions from your prescriber and dispensing pharmacy.

Timing and combining with other peptides

What time of day? For compounded tesamorelin, follow your individual prescription schedule. The Egrifta label specifies once-daily use but does not require a particular time of day. Read Best Time to Take Tesamorelin: Morning vs. Night for that distinction.

Combining with other peptides. Do not combine or change medications without your physician’s direction. An individualized compounded regimen is not an FDA-approved combination regimen. Read Tesamorelin vs. Ipamorelin or Tesamorelin vs. HGH for more background.
