HcG Therapy Online

With close to two decades of experience treating men with low T, we have helped countless patients look, live and feel better.

What Is Testosterone Replacement Therapy?

Testosterone is the bio-chemical responsible for most sexual characteristics in men. These include:

  • Body Hair
  • Facial Hair
  • Voice Depth
  • Muscle Mass
  • Bone Mass
  • Sex Drive

Men’s testosterone levels usually peak in their late teens and then unfortunately, after the age of 28-30, most men start experiencing a slow and steady drop in their testosterone at a rate of 1-2% a year. When a man reaches 40, his levels will be significantly lower.

If left untreated, he will experience a myriad of unwanted symptoms typically attributed to just getting older. Fortunately, there are things that we can do to help. The experts at NovaGenix can assist you to regain the vitality that you once had through a hormone replacement therapy regimen.

Low T Test

What Is TRT?

TRT stands for testosterone replacement therapy. This form of hormone replacement is designed for patients who are suffering with male hypogonadism or andropause (also known as Low T). TRT can bring your T levels back to a range that feels healthy and increases your vitality. This range can be anywhere from 300 to 1100 for adult men.

Some of the signs of Low T include:

  • Depression
  • Low libido
  • Fatigue
  • Decreased muscle mass
  • Hair loss
  • Mood swings and Irritability
  • Lowered sense of self confidence
  • Focus issues
  • Difficulty achieving and maintaining erections
  • Increased body fat

TRT is most commonly administered either by injection or by use of skin creams and gels containing testosterone. However, some men opt for testosterone pellets or patches.

How To Tell If You Have Low Testosterone

NovaGenix makes low T diagnosis simple. Within just a single visit to our office, we’ll:

  • Conduct a physical exam
  • Run a blood test
  • Review your medical history

To determine the underlying cause of low testosterone, we may need to perform additional tests, like:

  • An MRI or CT scan: If a suspected pituitary issue may be causing male hypogonadism, we may order an MRI or CT scan of your brain to see if there are any tumors or irregularities.
  • PGX testing or genetic studies: Often sub optimal testosterone levels can run in the family. A PGX or genetic test may help the doctor understand your genetic predisposition for Low T.
  • Hormone testing: If a pituitary abnormality is suspected by the doctor as the cause of low testosterone, we might have patients run additional hormone tests to evaluate some of the other pituitary hormones.

Once we have an accurate diagnosis of low t, we can start to develop an all-inclusive treatment plan.

Benefits of Testosterone Therapy

Increased Muscle Mass

As men age, they lose muscle mass, normally at a rate of 0.5 to 1.0% annually after they turn 40. This decrease in mass speeds up especially if the man has low T. Loss of muscle slows resting metabolism and the cycle gets worse. With TRT, increases in your lean body mass help raise your metabolism and burn fat, keeping you fit and healthy as you age.

Patients often see an increase of three to six pounds of lean muscle within the first few months of TRT treatment. If the individual is working out, that number can increase as exercise and diet can help improve gains.

That said, you don’t have to worry about getting too big on TRT. Once hormone levels stabilize, muscle increases off. This usually takes place at around six months of treatment.

Higher Energy Levels

Men with Low T often complain about feeling lethargic. They come home and want to sit on the couch instead of going out to play in the yard with their kids. Once upon a time, they would be able to run all day and hit the gym at night before going out on the town, but now they seem to be a a shell of their former selves.

TRT can help improve energy levels and help a man regain the vitality they used to have. Men who start TRT begin to experience increased energy levels, which in turn can help improve their overall quality of life. Men with low T often reported extreme fatigue and decreased energy levels. If you’re tired all of the time or if you find it difficult to get motivated to hit the gym and work out, you may have Low T.

Increased Sex Drive

TRT can dramatically improve your love life. Studies have shown that:

  • Testosterone increases a man’s sex drive.
  • Women are more attracted to men who have higher levels of testosterone.
  • Testosterone improves men’s ability to get and sustain erections.

Testosterone levels naturally rise in response to arousal and activity, and they fall off during long periods of abstinence. This means that more testosterone boosts libido, creating a positive feedback loop.

Better Moods

Hypogonadism has been shown to negatively affect men’s moods.

Studies show that testosterone therapy can significantly improve mood. This typically occurs within days or weeks, as opposed to months. For example, one study showed that almost all the improvement in mood happened within 30 days in men on Androgel.

Less Fat, More Muscle

Leaner body mass helps keep weight in balance and increases energy levels. There has been some evidence to suggest that testosterone treatment can reduce fat and increase muscle mass and strength. This effect is more significant if one combines treatment with weight training and exercise.

A recent study tested 108 men over the age of 65 and showed that testosterone treatment significantly reduced body fat, especially in the arms and legs. Those same men had increases in their lean mass, mostly in the torso and abdominal area.

Healthy Heart and Blood

Low T levels are linked to several cardiovascular risks. According to the Harvard Medical School, testosterone replacement therapy can widen the coronary arteries. This can be useful for men suffering with angina, since this pressure suggests your heart isn’t receiving enough blood.

Testosterone also can cause a rise in red blood cell counts, which is an excellent thing if you suffer from anemia (low red blood cell count).

Testosterone Replacement Therapy Frequently Asked Questions

How long will I need to be on TRT?

Therapy will not help your body make more testosterone. You need to take TRT for as long as you want increased testosterone levels.

What are the side-effects to testosterone therapy?

All medications have potential side effects, but the side effects of TRT have been grossly exaggerated. Our doctor will discuss any possible side effects with you. Through monitoring, we’ll keep you feeling your best and minimize the risks involved.

What happens if I stop TRT?

Your levels will drop back to what they were pre-TRT.

Will my testicles shrink?

No. We prescribe HcG to stimulate natural testosterone production. This prevents testicles from shrinking.

Will TRT cause me to become violent and aggressive?

Not on therapeutic doses. TRT has actually been shown to make men feel better and improve their mood.

Will I grow “man boobs”?

No. We monitor estrogen levels closely, which prevents this from happening. If needed, an anti-estrogen pill will be prescribed.

Blood Work Request Form

This subsequent lab panel is necessary for males undergoing Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) through NovaGenix Health and Wellness. It allows physicians to assess the patient's response to prescribed medications, covering sex hormone levels, thyroid function, adrenal health, hematocrit, and liver and kidney function. The panel includes tests such as:

  • Complete Blood Count
  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
  • Testosterone (Free and Total)
  • Estradiol Sensitive
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
  • Prostate Specific Antigen

Each test serves a specific purpose in monitoring overall health and treatment effectiveness. When required, Dr Mackey may require LH and FSH (Luteinizing hormone, follicle stimulating hormone) SHBG (Sex hormone binding globulin) or any other tests which may be important for your health and optimizing your hormones.

The Comprehensive Hormone and Wellness Panel for Women offers a foundational assessment of sex hormones, thyroid function, adrenal health, metabolic activity, and overall well-being. This panel serves as a diagnostic tool for identifying testosterone and estrogen deficiencies, assessing health risks, and detecting potential thyroid issues before considering hormone replacement therapy. Additionally, it includes insights into hematocrit (red blood cell volume), as well as liver and kidney function. The panel encompasses various tests such as:

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Complete Metabolic Panel
  • Testosterone (free and total)
  • Estradiol
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
  • Progesterone

When indicated, Dr. Mackey may require additional tests such as Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), and IGF-1 and Cortisol.
