How Do I Test for Low Testosterone?

Low testosterone can cause trouble in many aspects of a man’s life. Whether you’re feeling lethargic or you’re concerned about your sex drive, NovaGenix is here to help. Learn how our Board-Certified physician diagnoses Low T.

How to Test for Low T

The Adam Questionnaire for Low T

The ADAM (Androgen Deficiency in Aging Males) Questionnaire asks 10 yes or no questions. This helps you and your doctor understand whether you have Low Testosterone symptoms.

Blood Tests for Low Testosterone

Once you’ve completed the ADAM questionnaire, it's time to:

  • Fill out a Medical History questionnaire
  • Receive a physical exam.
  • Get a blood test.

The blood test will look at both your free and testosterone levels to determine where your levels are, versus where they need to be.

The proper analysis of blood will be performed by our doctor. He discusses the results with all patients in-person to evaluate if hormone replacement is the right solution for you. Depending on the results, he may require a few other exams to check liver, kidney, and cardiac systems before making a diagnosis.

What If I Have Low Testosterone?

If you have low testosterone, we will likely recommend TRT as a good solution. This treatment can boost T levels to help you live healthier and feel better. That said, there are some lifestyle changes you can also make, which can assist your T levels, though not as strongly as TRT:

  • Rigorous Exercise (e.g., HIIT, weightlifting)
  • Diet
  • Sleep

This subsequent lab panel is necessary for males undergoing Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) through NovaGenix Health and Wellness.
