As advancements in science and research have given us new insight, we now know there’s more than just age and psychological factors at play. Despite the fact that as men get older it will take them slightly longer to become excited, The truth is that in most cases of ED in men over the age of 50, there are physical conditions that contribute. Some of the main causes of ED in older men involve vascular systems, that is the blood supply to our “little friend.” Because smoking causes constructions within the blood vessels, many smokers will begin to experience the signs and symptoms of ED. Diabetes and atherosclerosis are also huge culprits as one out of every three diabetics will experience ED. Another very common cause is hormonal imbalances, as low testosterone levelsare a definite cause in an older man’s abilities to physically engage in their favorite romantic pass-times.Drugs and alcohol may also play a factor, sometimes men will report that due to intoxication they were unable to perform. Because the processes that control the blood going in and out of “certain organs” are under the control of our nervous system, certain medications may interfere with the signals and may be another huge contributor to ED in men of all ages. Some potential medications could include several types of stimulants as well as diuretics, antihistamines, blood pressure medication as well as sedatives, medications for cancer and depression. It’s important to talk to your physician and tell them about all of the side effects you may be experiencing, including ED. They may be able to offer alternatives and find possible treatments.

With younger men ED can be caused by a variety of reasons. Not surprisingly one of the major factors is going to be psychological. Issues of past abuse, personal fears of intimacy, A feeling of inadequacy, depression and fatigue as well as stress, may all contribute. Unfortunately, when ED does occur, it only exacerbates the psychological pressure placed on a male and it becomes increasingly likely that the condition will continue and even get progressively worse as the pressure to perform increases.

ED Treatment Options

There are many options to help men deal with ED. For many years, we've heard about the little blue pills that get men going. Then there were competitors and the market has been flooded, which you may think is a good thing, however, some of the more common medications on the market are extremely expensive. The good news is that there are generic alternatives that are a fraction of the cost of the brand name ED pills out there, and they have multiple delivery options. Sublingual Troches, dissolve under the tongue and the medication goes directly into the blood stream. This also bypasses the liver which will detoxify and reduce the potency of the pills when taken orally. There are also Hormone Replacement Options which have been shown to help men with ED. TRT, or Testosterone Therapy can help improve both drive and performance and can be administered as either a cream or testosterone injection. There are also direct micr-injection options that are easy to administer, painless and over 97% effective regardless of past medical history and current medications being taken, like Blood pressure and heart medications. There are a few other options, including a pump that helps improve blood flow and ultra sound therapy sessions, but they take time and there are questions regarding their effectiveness. One thing is for certain, it's important to speak to a medical professional to determine your best options.
